Since the dawn of humanity in the Garden of Eden, the enemy has worked tirelessly to distort the truth that God has spoken over us. In Genesis 1:26-27, we read that Adam and Eve were created in the image of God, already endowed with His likeness. Yet, the serpent’s lie to them was, "Do this, and you will be like God," implying they lacked something they already possessed.
This deception wasn't just a random act; it was a calculated move to disrupt the perfect communion Adam and Eve had with their Creator. The enemy is powerless against God, so his strategy hinges on convincing us that we are less than what God has declared us to be, sowing seeds of doubt and insecurity.
In the eighth chapter of Psalms, thought by some to be an angelic discourse, we see a glimpse of the glory humanity was clothed in before the fall. The psalmist marvels at how humans were made "a little lower than the angels" and crowned "with glory and honor." This glory was not merely an external adornment but a reflection of their intimate relationship with God. The word used in the Hebrew for crowned literally means they were encircled--encircled with glory. When Adam and Eve succumbed to the serpent’s lie, this divine glory departed, and they recognized their nakedness—both physically and spiritually.
The enemy’s tactics haven't changed. In fact, one of his greatest fears is that we will rediscover and reclaim the truth of what God has spoken over us. Here at TILM, we refer to this smear campaign as The Great Forgetting. Jeremiah 1:5 tells us that He knew us before we were formed, we were set apart and ordained.. each one with a divine purpose. To recognize oneself as the image of God is to accept one's true identity.. so naturally the enemy will use the things of the world including possessions, trauma, and shame to put our identity in anything else other than God, today hissing that you must accomplish this or that for God to love you. He is trying to convince them that they lack something they already possess, the love of God, even though Scripture clearly tells us, "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8).
Want to know what a person's identity is tied to? Observe what they will defend at all costs..
The enemy's smear campaign is relentless, filled with lies designed to make us forget our divine heritage and the power that comes with it. He knows that if we truly grasp our identity in Christ, we will live out our God-given purpose with authority and joy.Imagine the day when we fully comprehend and embrace our true identity and purpose spoken over us, awakening to the fullness of God's promises and the joy and peace that come from living in them. If you think you are happy now,
....wait until the day you find out what the Lord has really spoken over you.
Jesus said, "I must do the works of Him who sent me while it is still day, for night is coming when no man can work." - John 9:4
Wake up, sleeping saints.. it is getting late and we have work to do.
